Renewals & Duplicates

When selling a vehicle privately, on the back of the car title in Block ”A” insert the current mileage, the new owners name and address and the seller needs to have his signature notarized in front of a notary. Failure to do so would invalidate the title and a duplicate title would have to be applied for. The charge for this would be $55 plus clerical fees.

Registration Renewals

  • You will need to bring in either the old registration card, the license plate number, the title number, or the vehicle identification number to get it renewed
  • Proof of identification
  • Proof of insurance

Duplicates

NOTE: Duplicate titles usually take 7 to 10 days and are always mailed directly to the customer's address.

Lost Auto Titles Can be Replaced!

If you have lost an auto title, the DMV will be able to replace it. It is always possible to run a DMV check on any vehicle using the VIN number, which is located on the dash of a vehicle, inside the driver's side door, or in the engine compartment. This DMV check allows you to find out the entire history of the car in a few moments.
